“ Palila “                previous - Next
Joyfully the Palila Bird (loxioides bailleui) sits in a Mamane tree (sophora chrysophylla) high upon the slopes of Mauna Kea. This Endemic forest Bird eats every part of the Mamane, a plant found to be toxic to other Endemic Birds. The Bird's brilliant yellow and gray plumage is excellent camoflage in the trees, but can be spotted against the morning sky.
